Jeremy Clarke-Williams is a partner in the Reputation Management and Privacy team at Penningtons Manches and has extensive experience in all aspects of libel, reputation management and privacy law, built up over the 30 years he has specialised in these areas of work.
During his legal career he has been involved in numerous legally significant and high profile libel cases including Mapp v News Group Newspapers Ltd  QB 520; Chase v News Group Newspapers  EMLR 11; Ashley v Chief Constable of Sussex  UKHL 25 (acting for the intervenor, Christopher Sherwood); Cruddas v Calvert & Others  EWHC 2298 (QB); Toby Rowland v Andrew Mitchell  EWHC 4014 (the ‘Plebgate’ action) and Zahir Monir –v- Steve Wood  EWHC 3525 (QB).
He has twice been invited to give oral evidence before Parliamentary Committees - the Culture Media and Sport Committee’s Inquiry into Press Standards, Libel and Privacy (24 February 2009) and the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the draft Defamation Bill (9 May 2011).
Jeremy is the co-author of "A Practical Guide to Libel and Slander" (2003) and is also the defamation contributor to the Civil Court Service (the 'Brown Book') published annually by LexisNexis.
