Søren Juel HansenHead of Development at Energinet
Søren Juel Hansen is a commercial practitioner who believes it possible to achieve a still substantial - but fully renewable and co2 emission negative - energy production in the North Sea by 2050. Søren also believes that we can maximise North Sea energy recovery further and transform it to become co2 emission neutral by 2030.
To achieve such transition in North Sea Energy production, Søren believes we need to couple sectors, overcome prejudices, apply all sorts of energy competencies and resources including carbon capture storage, exchange of radical new ideas and remain open to re-engineer our current upstream set-up and business models and apply new ways to source finance.
In the past, Søren has taken responsibility for:
• Developing the business model and on-boarding the key stakeholders behind the +1.5 bEUR Baltic Pipe gas infrastructure project
• Opening up the Danish gas system for competition and renewable gasses
• Making the EU Recovery fund supported German-Danish connection - now securing a German gas supply to Sweden and Denmark - a commercially viable reality
• Re-organising the set-up for electricity and gas preparedness in Denmark
Søren holds a Masters in Business Economy and Law and has a background as an internal contract attorney in global telecom, at DONG/Ørsted and at Energinet.
