Matthew works across both contentious and non-contentious matters, particularly for clients in the technology, life sciences and consumer products sectors.
Matthew’s litigation experience includes high-profile cases involving allegations of abuse of dominance against a technology company and ‘FRAND’ aspects of standard essential patent licensing. He has also acted for a pharmaceutical company in a dispute regarding post-patent expiry royalty obligations, and was part of the team that successfully overturned the government’s attempt to intervene in the sale of a stake in the Independent and the Evening Standard to foreign investors.
Matthew also advises on regulator investigations and merger control, as well as a broad range of competition law issues arising out of commercial agreements. He regularly carries out compliance training sessions for a wide range of companies.
