Mahfuza AfrozHead of Credit Insurance Products, Syndications at International Finance Corporation
Mahfuza is Head of Credit Insurance Products in the Syndications team at IFC, the private-sector arm of the World Bank Group. Based in Washington, D.C., she manages risk distribution to insurance companies for IFC’s debt investments in emerging and frontier markets on both a single-transaction basis and a portfolio basis through IFC’s Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program (MCPP). She has contracted to insure more than $5 billion of project finance, corporate finance and FI lending risks in 41 countries. Mahfuza joined IFC in 2008 as an Investment Officer, focused on increasing financial-sector investments in Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.
Prior to joining IFC, she worked for Citibank in India and Bangladesh. She holds a master’s in international business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and a bachelor’s in business studies from the University of Delhi.
