Javier Gomez
Vice President and Senior Underwriter at Vantage Group Holdings Ltd


Javier Gomez is a Vice President and Senior Underwriter for Vantage’s Political Risk and Credit Insurance team, and he is based in New Jersey. He brings over 20 years of banking and insurance expertise, along with many proven successes partnering with global financial institutions and multilateral development banks.

Before Vantage, Javier was a Vice President and Senior Underwriter for AXA XL (formerly XL Catlin and XL Group). There he underwrote single situation Credit and Political Risk Insurance for global financial institutions, multilateral agencies, export credit agencies, manufacturers, traders, and global corporations based in the Americas. He also has experience writing a wide range of products, from short-term credit revolving facilities to long-tenor contract frustration, political risk and infrastructure finance.

Prior to AXA XL, Javier was a Senior Underwriter at QBE where he helped launch their Trade Credit and Political Risk platform in the Americas. He was also a Vice President and Underwriter at Exporters Insurance Services. Javier additionally brings banking experience to the team where he was Senior Credit Analyst at El Camino Resources and a Service Officer at Citibank.

Javier holds a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs specializing in Latin America Economic Development from New School University in New York. He completed a graduate program in the Political Economy of Latin America at Binghamton University in New York State, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from the City University of New York.
