Sian Aspinall
Joint Managing Director at Managing Director

Sian Aspinall has over 25 years of experience in the CPRI market, having previously been Senior Vice President, Trade Credit and Political Risk at Zurich. Having started her career at BPL Global, Sian rejoined in 2014.

As Joint Managing Director with James Esdaile, Sian is responsible for defining the strategic direction of the company and its line of specialist products, as well as maintaining its strong client relationships and developing its corporate structure.

Sian is a highly respected insurance market professional and has been a leading figure in the political risk industry for over 25 years, being a regular speaker and panellist at industry conferences. Having initially been at BPL Global for two years from 1992 as a Graduate Trainee, Sian returned in 2014, becoming Managing Director in 2015.

Sian previously provided consultancy services to insurers, loss adjusters, brokers and law firms within the CPRI market, focusing on expert witness work, regular independent peer reviews on insurers’ portfolios, regular audits on individual broker files, policy drafting for insurers on new products, market feasibility studies and other bespoke projects.

This followed a successful underwriting career, initially with AIG and subsequently as Senior Vice President, Trade Credit and Political Risk at Zurich. At Zurich, Sian was responsible for establishing the company in the London market and managing a team of specialist underwriters. She started her career as a political risk broker in 1990 at Hogg Robinson (now AON), and was at BPL Global from 1992 to 1994, during which time she was responsible for broking Swiss trader and French corporate business into Lloyd’s and the Company markets.
