Chris Coburn is a member of the executive leadership team of one of the largest hospital systems in the United States. Chief Innovation Officer, Mass General Brigham, Boston, (2013-present). Mass General Brigham (MGB) is an integrated health care system that includes Harvard University affiliates Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear, McLean Hospital, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Network. It is the nation’s largest academic research enterprise with more than $2.5 billion in research expenditures carried out by its 6600 Harvard Medical School faculty. MGB also has a managed care organization, out-patient facilities and community hospitals. A direct report to the system CEO, Coburn leads a team of 140 tasked with the commercial application of the unique capabilities of MGB’s 85,000 employees. His group is responsible for business development, investing, company creation, corporate alliances, commercial strategy setting, licensing, and innovation management.
