Devon SkerrittDeputy Director, Design Research, Innovation Center at Southern New Hampshire University
Devon Skerritt, Ed.D., is Director of Design Thinking Research at Southern New Hampshire University, where he has worked in 2019. He is responsible for leading the practice of design thinking, including qualitative research, trainings, and facilitating design-based engagements for innovation and strategy at one of the nation's largest not-for-profit four-year universities currently serving more than 170,000 students worldwide.
Devon was Associate Director of Design and Innovation programs at SMU in Dallas, TX, where he worked with a team practicing human-centered design in a variety of curricular, co-curricular and external contexts. He has also taught, facilitated, and written about Life Design and career exploration using Human-Centered Design. Devon has more than 20 years of experience across education administration roles particularly serving students as a college admissions and career counselor. Devon received his Ed.D. in higher education from SMU where he studied non-cognitive behaviors in social innovation programs and institutionalization of design thinking and social entrepreneurship in K12 and higher education. He graduated from Colgate University in 2000 and received his master’s in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was also a 2015 Social Impact Fellow.
Devon is a native of New England and a wicked big fan of his hometown sports teams (despite his 8 years in North Texas), which is how he met his amazing wife, Courtney. He also is an avid runner and has a healthy collection of 90’s hip hop CD’s on rotation in his car where he carts around his hockey playing son, Cullen, and his Rebel Girl-inspired daughter, Dana.
