Gene McCarthyFormer CEO ASICS America, Co-President at Timberland, CMO UnderArmour, Reebok, Nike, and Merrell
Profile
I’ve had the privilege of having a varied career working with legendary global brands across the athletic and outdoor industries. Over the course of this journey I have held executive level positions with ASICS, Under Armour, Nike, Jordan, Reebok, Timberland and Merrell.
My last role was as President and CEO of ASICS America.
I’ve also held seats on various boards including the Two Ten Foundation, Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), and Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) and the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy.
I’ve had the honor of being a featured speaker at Leaders Week in London and also I’ve been a guest lecturer at colleges and universities including University of Southern California, Princeton, Cornell Johnson School of Business, Columbia Business School, Marquette University and MIT.
As a native New Yorker I attended Fordham University where I was a track and field All American and a US Olympic Trials semifinalist. In 2011 I founded the Van Cortlandt Park Cross Country Hall of Fame.
Currently I am the Founder & CEO of Top League Advisory which counsels both small and large brands alike on vision, strategy and organizational architecture.
Today I serve as the Chairman of the Board for FootBalance Inc, a Helsinki based company that focuses on all aspects of foot health. I also am on the Board of Directors for The City Tutors which provides tutoring and mentoring for the underprivileged in the five boroughs of New York.
I’ve authored a guest piece for The NY Times and I’m in the very slow and arduous process of compiling notes for a book tentatively titled, ‘Chasing Four’.
