Liz Guthrie is the Head of Innovation and Research & Development. Her team is responsible for leading enterprise-wide innovation initiatives and research and development that will enable growth and drive better customer experiences. Before this role, Guthrie was the COO for Wealth Client Solutions responsible for strategy and analytics, initiative management, governance, shared services and general operational business support. Prior to that she led the Strategic Initiatives and Implementation team for all of Wealth Investment Management (WIM), which drove major program implementations, developed cross-WIM strategy and led other WIM-level efforts connected to enterprise initiatives.
Before joining Wells Fargo, Guthrie was head of wholesale disbursement products at Bank of America Merrill Lynch where she was responsible for traditional product management as well as the global launch, development and management of award winning digital payments services. She also led global payment innovation efforts to identify and pilot new mobile payment products in partnership with corporate clients.
Prior to joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Guthrie worked at Lowe’s Companies leading the e-Commerce business where she also managed development of the company’s customer and associate-facing mobile strategies. In addition, Guthrie served as director of Corporate Strategy, identifying new, non-core, global growth opportunities as well as domestic real estate strategies and new store concepts.
Guthrie also worked for a payments strategy consulting and M&A advisory firm primarily serving merchants, credit card issuers and credit card networks.
Guthrie has a bachelors in economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. She lives in Charlotte with her husband and two daughters and enjoys traveling, design and architecture.
