Profile

Gillian is UK head of intermediary solutions at Schroders, and has over 30 years’ experience working in financial services. Gillian is responsible for outsourced investment solutions for the UK Intermediary market including model portfolios on platforms and multi-asset funds. She had an extensive career at Standard Life followed by consultancy positions with a range of platforms, asset managers, life companies and advisers. In 2016 she founded Discus, a business providing research, insight and educational content for advisers about the outsourced investment market and discretionary managers. Following an acquisition of the business by the Embark Group she continued to develop Discus, provided consultancy services for the launch of the Embark platform and was head of strategic partnerships. Gillian has an MA in English Literature and an MBA from the Open Business School. She is also a keen runner and reader.

Gillian has also just won Woman of the Year at Professional Advisers' Women in Financial Awards 2021

In conferring this award, the panel of judges recognised Gillian's outstanding contribution to the Investment sector of the UK financial services industry.

Gillian also received a special commendation in the category 'Role Model of the Year (Larger Firms),' The judges acknowledged her work in helping to promote women's careers through education, training, leadership and mentoring and helping them to fulfil their potential and achieve excellence in the work place.

"I'm thrilled to have received this recognition. But the award is also a recognition of the huge effort which the Schroders team and myself have put in to deliver investment solutions and services to support financial advisers and their clients.

"In addition, addressing diversity and inclusion in the financial services industry is a key priority for Schroders and the broader industry and Schroders have continually been supportive of the work I have done this area in the last year.

"These awards are a good reminder that we can change more together than alone. It is always fantastic to see so many women come together to support each others' careers and recognise our achievements. We continue to be on a journey but I believe that we are starting to see real change in creating a more inclusive industry."
