Peter Fleming
Director, Airports Division at EMCO

Profile

A Honduran national, Peter Fleming has more than 30 years' experience at a national and international level in different economic sectors, holding important positions in the areas of Marketing, Advertising and Project Development, specializing in the last 14 years in the Aeronautical and Airport sector.

In 2012, he joined OPAIN, concessionaire of the EL DORADO International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia. In 6 years as Director of Aviation Marketing, he generated 19 new routes and launched operations of major airlines such as Interjet, KLM, TAP Portugal, Avior, Turkish Airlines, Air Europa, TAM Brasil and Ocean Air. In 2015 Peter defined, developed and implemented a strategy to increase passenger traffic to El Dorado, based on marketing and support of the Meetings and Events Tourism industry, and received international recognition as one of the 15 leaders of the MICE Industry in Latin America.

In 2017 he returned to Honduras to support the country's socioeconomic growth and development, leading the Honduras 20/20 Program as Executive Director/CEO.

In 2020 he joined the EMCO Group and is currently the Executive President of the Airports Division, with oversight of its many subsidiaries including: the concession for the design, construction, maintenance and operation of Palmerola International Airport, Adimex, an air cargo terminal logistics operator, AirPlan and PIA DutyFree companies.

In 2020, under his direction, Toncontín Airport obtained the prestigious Airport Health Accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI) for the strict and modern biosafety protocols implemented. That same year, he led with Adimex the operation and modernization of the Tegucigalpa cargo terminal and the reconstruction and reopening of the San Pedro Sula air cargo terminal, which had been destroyed by hurricanes Eta and IOTA.

In his work at EMCO, Peter spearheaded the transition from Toncontín Airport to Palmerola International Airport: Palmerola was successful opened and began operations on December 11, 2021. This was an historic project for Honduras being the only new, greenfield airport in the world to open operations during the pandemic. Since beginning operations, it has enabled new airlines to operate and reach the Central zone and has increased the number of passengers exponentially.

In his role Peter has also spearheaded the awarding to EMCO of the cargo terminal at El Salvador's Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport, which began operation through ADIMEX in 2022 and is the first public-private alliance in the country's history. He is also leading the construction of the AeroMetro cable car project in Guatemala that will connect important areas in the country's capital.
