Ms. Cesar-Fabian is an industry-recognized legal and sustainable investment professional with over 20 years’ experience in creating value through doing the right thing in the financial and legal services arenas. Most recently, she served as General Counsel for Ethic, a tech-driven sustainable investment focused asset manager with over $3 billion in assets under management.

Prior to Ethic, Ms. Cesar-Fabian served as one of the first out LGBTQ General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officers in the US private equity industry when she joined Palladium Equity Partners, the industry’s oldest minority-owned leveraged buyout firm, in 2011. During her decade-plus tenure at Palladium, she built out the firm’s legal and compliance function before becoming a partner and transitioning into a new role as Head of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) & Sustainability. During this time, she led Palladium’s B Corp certification process and positioned the firm as a UNPRI signatory and recognized voice for strong ESG/DEI practices across the alternatives space. Prior to work on investment side, Ms. Cesar-Fabian worked in private practice as a securities and regulatory litigator at Hughes, Hubbard & Reed LLP and Bingham McCutchen LLP (now Morgan Lewis LLP).

She has been recognized numerous times for her work in ESG and DEI, including having been named a Notable LGBTQ Leader & Executive by Crain’s NY Business (2020), honored by the National Organization for Women as a “Woman of Power and Influence” (2020) and recognized by Mergers & Acquisitions as a Private Equity Leader in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (2021). In February 2023 she was the recipient of the St. Thomas More Award, which recognizes moral leadership over one’s career, awarded by the St. John’s University School of Law Alumni Association.

Ms. Cesar-Fabian holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from New York University, a Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law, and Certifications in Responsible Investment (Levels 1-3) from the UNPRI Academy. She also holds a Certificate in Sustainable Finance and ESG Investing from NYU-Stern Center for Sustainable Business, and is presently enrolled in the University of Cambridge Judge Business School’s Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies Executive Education course. Ms. Cesar-Fabian presently volunteers with the NY Forest Owners Association, serves on the board of the St John’s University School of Law Alumni Association, and is a founding member of the School of Law’s Alumnae Leadership Council.
