Joann Arweiler is a Principal in the New York office of BDO and leads the Investigative Due Diligence Practice. Joann has almost 15 years of professional experience in the areas of corporate investigations, fraud investigations, criminal investigations, investigative due diligence, litigation support, and asset tracing on a domestic and international level. Joann also has experience in conducting interviews of witnesses and pertinent subjects related to an investigation. She works with financial institutions, private equity firms, hedge funds, fund of funds, institutional investors, high-net worth investors, legal counsel and corporate entities.

Joann serves clients by identifying risks and exposing disclosure issues, pertinent details and anomalies developed during the course of an investigation. She provides meaningful intelligence to her clients in order to ensure that they are positioned to make an informed business decision.

Previously, Joann served as a Confidential Investigator at the New York City Department of Investigations, where she was responsible for investigating and analyzing cases involving negligence or mismanagement by city agencies, bribery, kickbacks, conflicts of interest, misappropriation of funds, program fraud, and code of ethics violations. She has participated in and organized undercover and surveillance operations, and collaborated with local and federal law enforcement agencies, resulting in numerous successful prosecutions. Joann also worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration where she assisted with investigations.
