Barbara IyayiFounding Partner and CEO at Unicorn Growth Capital
Barbara Iyayi is an experienced investor and entrepreneur with over 16 years’ experience, spanning VC/FinTech, private equity, investment banking/M&A and technology. She is the CEO & Founding Partner of Unicorn Growth Capital, an early-stage VC firm investing in the future of FinTech. The firm backs category leaders and emerging global champions transforming the financial infrastructure of the digital economy.
Barbara has invested in, scaled and advised FinTech and financial services companies globally. She currently serves on the board of the Web Foundation, an international non-profit focused on digital equality, founded by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, and Rosemary Leith. Barbara also served as the Chief Growth Officer and Managing Director for Africa of Element, Inc, an AI-powered digital identity platform operating in the US, Africa and Southeast Asia that was co-founded by Yann LeCun, Chief AI Scientist at Facebook and Turing Award Laureate. Previously, she was part of the inaugural team of Atlas Mara, an LSE-listed financial services investment platform and the first SPAC for Africa raising over $1bn, co-founded by Bob Diamond, ex-CEO of Barclays Bank.
Prior to Atlas Mara, Barbara worked on global transactions of over $15bn at various financial institutions, including as Vice President, Investment Banking at JPMorgan, and UBS Investment Bank in New York. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Columbia University, and an MBA at Harvard Business School.
