Michel Looten joined Seabury in 2013 as Maritime Director and is responsible for the maritime practice within Seabury’s consulting division. His responsibilities include the further expansion of Seabury’s offering and proposition in the maritime industry through its business intelligence products and consulting services. Clients are half of the top-20 global container lines, but also many of the world’s largest global forwarders, terminal operators and maritime authorities.
Michel brings 15 years of experience in the maritime industry. He started his career in 1999 in container shipping with P&O Nedlloyd, holding several roles in both Rotterdam and London. These roles included trade management, sales & marketing, as well as vessel operations. After joining Maersk Line he held the role of Route Manager Asia Imports for Central Europe. His position prior to joining Seabury was with the agricultural supply chain management company, Cefetra BV, which he joined in late 2008. Here he worked in the chartering department, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in the dry bulk sector as well.
Educated as a M. Sc. at the Faculty of Economics of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Michel graduated in Maritime Economics and Logistics.
