Phil Runions has spent over 30 years in the pension fund and real estate advisory community responsible for over $14.1B of investment activity. Past investment markets include Canada, USA. and Mexico. He was a founding member of the Real Estate Group at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (“CPPIB’’) finishing as the Director of Real Estate - Canada and Mexico. During his tenure at CPPIB real estate assets grew from $0.3B to over $7.0B. Significant investments included joint venture relationships with Canada’s largest REITs and pension plans as well as US fund managers.

Prior to joining CPPIB, Mr. Runions was a Portfolio Manager at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (“OTPPB”) during the $6.1B privatization of The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Ltd. and its first direct US real estate investments. He was a Portfolio Manager at The Cadillac Fairview Corporation and was responsible for a Portfolio rebalancing initiative resulting in over $1.5B of property sales or exchanges in Canada and the US.

During his career, Mr. Runions has created and or approved Portfolio and Asset Management strategies for in excess of $20.2B of real estate assets representing over 109M sq. ft. of Retail, Office and Industrial property.
