Stéphane Chardon
at European Commission


Stéphane Chardon is head of sector for trade and security in the European Commission's Directorate General for Trade (DG TRADE). His responsibilities include developing export control policy and regulations, supporting and monitoring their implementation throughout the EU, and representing the EU in relations with third countries, multilateral export control regimes, and international organisations.

Stéphane Chardon studied law and international relations in Strasbourg, Rome, and Paris. After military service, Stéphane Chardon served in the Secretariat for European Affairs of the French Government, and joined the European Commission, where he held various positions in the Commission's external relations departments, including postings abroad in EU Delegations to Eritrea and Moscow.
