Georg PIETSCH has been Director General at the German Federal Office of Economic Affairs and Export Control since 2006.

Since 1990 he has served in a number of positions at the Federal Export Control Office, including Head of Directorate „Basic legal questions”, Head of Directorate „Arms control“ and Head of Directorate „Non-listed-items and Embargos” (inter alia as expert for the Oil-for-Food program, Iraq).

Until 2005 Mr. PIETSCH was Deputy Director General / Head of subdivision „Export control, legal questions and European Union” (inter alia as Chairman of the NSG – Licensing and Enforcement Officers Meeting, Member of the German Delegation to the Australia Group and for many years Member of the German Delegation to the “Dual use working group”, Brussels).
