Alex is a Senior Engineer at Sea Education Association (SEA), based in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA. SEA is an internationally recognized leader in education at sea, and owns and operates two custom-built 134’ brigantine research vessels. Alex began sailing professionally in 2002 and joined SEA in 2014. She is passionate about SEA’s mission, which is to educate and inspire ocean scholars, stewards, and leaders by providing them with opportunity to live, work, and study at sea. As an SEA Engineer, Alex educates SEA’s high school and undergraduate students about the fundamentals of marine engineering and safety as well as daily ship operations, including their costs and effects on the environment. When ashore at the program’s Woods Hole headquarters, she participates in planning and oversight of long-term maintenance, repairs, and improvements, and provides support and oversight for operating engineers aboard SEA ships.
