Profile

Dr. Lau Blaxekjær is Special Advisor in the Danish Maritime Authority leading the work on climate action and climate negotiations in the IMO. Together with colleagues from Germany and France, he developed the so-called “mandatory operational goal-based short-term measure” to be discussed by the IMO as a way of achieving the IMO’s greenhouse gas strategy. Lau holds a PhD degree in Political Science from University of Copenhagen (2015). He is Adjungated Researcher at the University of the Faroe Islands. His research focus on global climate governance, green growth, sustainability and entrepreneurship.
