Toby is HFW's Singapore Head of Shipping and APAC Head of our global Crisis Management team.
He specialises in risk and crisis management/emergency response in the marine and energy sectors. Toby's work involves managing major marine and energy disasters, which are often complex, involving a number of inter-related actions in a number of jurisdictions. Toby is also recognised for insurance coverage and other marine and energy related commercial and contractual disputes.
Recognised as a Technical Specialist by the Institute of Risk Management (SIRM), Toby advises clients across the full spectrum of risk management, including contractual and regulatory liabilities, crisis management systems, organisational resilience and crisis preparedness.
Toby brings deep industry knowledge to the table, gained throughout his legal career, as well as from his time as a marine surveyor in Houston and as the legal team head at a leading Lloyd’s syndicate.
Toby lectures regularly, both in the UK and internationally and he has been recognised as a Technical Specialist by the Institute of Risk Management (SIRM).
He provides clients with a highly experienced pair of 'safe hands' when marine disasters strike, undertaking the initial response, managing his clients' exposure to civil and criminal liabilities and resolving the subsequent disputes.
