Sheryl Mejia is a Partner at Steward Asset Management, an investment manager specialized in anchoring private equity and opportunistic asset managers heading towards the launch of Fund I. Alongside affiliate Decagon Advisors the team is engaged with owner-manager entrepreneurs via the Mentor-Anchor Program in Fund I, Fund II and beyond. The practice builds capacity in strategies of growing interest to Institutional Limited Partners, ultimately seeking to steward the next generation of alternative asset management leaders. Most recently she was the Director of Emerging Managers for NY State Common Retirement Fund, overseeing ~$7 billion in commitments to over 120 smaller and emerging firms. She is passionate about supporting the incubation of owner-manager entrepreneurs, those with a track record in less liquid areas of the capital markets focused on building scalable businesses.
Previously she held investment roles at KCS Funds and Deutsche Bank/Bankers Trust Asset Management after beginning her career at KPMG in the Financial Services practice. She holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Commerce, Honors, from Queen’s University in Canada. She is a CFA charterholder and a Chartered Accountant
