Janine GuillotCEO at Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)
Janine Guillot is the Chief Executive Officer at SASB. As CEO, Ms. Guillot is a member of the SASB Foundation Board and is responsible for setting the overall enterprise strategy and the oversight of all staff, programs, and activities of SASB to achieve its mission and objectives. She is responsible for leading the pursuit of global business development opportunities, facilitating global adoption of the SASB standards, and maintaining collaborative relationships across the sustainability disclosure field. As the primary external voice for SASB, Ms. Guillot is responsible for maintaining a strong global presence, representing the interests of SASB and the sustainability disclosure field to companies, investors, legislatures, regulators, civil society, and other key stakeholder groups.
Ms. Guillot previously held the role of Director of Capital Markets Policy and Outreach at SASB, where she initially led outreach to investors and created SASB’s Investor Advisory Group of leading asset owners and asset managers calling for market standards for ESG disclosure. Her role expanded to encompass policy and outreach for all stakeholder groups as well as leading efforts to drive adoption of the SASB standards.
Prior to joining SASB, Ms. Guillot had more than 25 years of experience in operating, strategy, risk management and finance roles in financial services. She served as Chief Operating Investment Officer for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), where she was responsible for CalPERS investment office business and operational management, CalPERS affiliate funds and CalPERS defined contribution plans. Ms. Guillot also oversaw the CalPERS corporate governance program, including integration of sustainability and governance factors into investment decision-making. She has held senior leadership positions at Barclays Global Investors, Bank of America and Incapture LP. At Barclays Global Investors, she served as Chief Operating Officer for BGI’s European and Global Fixed Income businesses. She began her career in public accounting.
Ms. Guillot holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Southern Methodist University. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Marin Agricultural Land Trust and Equilibrium Capital. She serves on the Senior Advisory Board at the Center for Responsible Business at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and on the Advisory Board of Blockchain Coinvestors. She is a former member of the FDIC’s Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee.
