Founder and Director at Clarmondial AG


Tanja established Clarmondial in Zurich in May 2010 to mobilize environmental investments and has worked with leading investors, corporates, foundations and conservation organizations on financing of businesses in the agriculture, forestry, energy and fishery sectors. Clarmondial advises the Food Securities Fund, whose investors include a European bank, leading family offices and foundations as well as the Global Environment Facility, which administers funds on behalf of the UN conventions on biodiversity, climate change and land degradation. The Fund also has support from the US Development Finance Corporation / USAID and Conservation International, among others.

Tanja previously worked for Climate Change Capital (UK), an asset manager focused on the low carbon economy. She has also worked with the World Bank Group, UN Food and Agriculture Organization and family offices / HNWIs. Tanja has an LLM in Environmental Law and Policy from University of Kent, and an MSc in Applied Environmental Economics (Imperial College London) and a BSc (Hons) in Tropical Environmental Science from University of Aberdeen.

Tanja is a director of the Food Securities Fund S.A. SICAV-FIS, an advisor to the Climate Bonds Initiative, a board member of SRI Executive and C4GA (Centre for Global Advancement) and contributes to several international initiatives on transition finance, blended finance, Nature based Solution investments, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emission reduction initiatives.

She is a Danish and Swiss national and was born and grew up in Tanzania and Kenya.
