Timothy Ash is a senior sovereign strategist at Bluebay Asset Management in London, and an Associate Fellow at Chatham House on their Russia and Eurasian Programme. He has worked as a professional economist for 33 years, working in banks, EIU and various development consultants, always focusing on Emerging Europe but with a particular focus on Ukraine, Turkey and Russia. He lived for a year in Ukraine in the early 1990s on an EU funded project working to privatise a local Agro Kombinat. He has a first class honours degree in Economics and also a Masters degree in Agricultural Economics both from Manchester University. Tim was also a Leverhulme Research Fellow at Exeter University (89) looking at technological change in Soviet Agriculture, follow by working as a Research associate at Heriot Watt University (91) with a focus on the transition from plan to market. He is a regular writer on Ukraine, Turkey and the region, with a political focus on geopolitical impacts on the market.
