Andy Mantel is Founder & CEO of Pacific Sun Advisors, an independent investment advisor focusing on alternative investments in Asia with a specific concentration in China.  Based in Hong Kong with partner offices in Nanjing and Shenzhen, the firm manages capital for institutions, family offices, and high net worth clients globally.  Mr. Mantel is also Co-Founder of 前海中基创元股权投资基金管理(深圳)有限公司, a Shenzhen-based, wholly-owned subsidiary of Pacific Sun Advisors, and holder of a QFLP (Qualified Foreign Limited Partnership) license that allows foreign investors access to RMB-denominated private equity investment opportunities in China.
 
Mr. Mantel has more than 25 years investments experience in Chinese-related equities.  After starting his career at Lehman Brothers in San Francisco, Mr. Mantel moved to Asia in 1990 and worked for one of Taiwan’s leading securities investment firms and then also at Taiwan’s largest fund management company.  After almost 3 years in Taipei, Mr. Mantel moved to Hong Kong and was Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager for China’s first ever joint venture fund management firm, Shanghai International Asset Management, which was a pilot venture between  Taiwan’s largest business group and the Shanghai government (Shanghai International Investment & Trust Corporation).  Aside from managing some of the firms’ assets he was also the joint venture representative for its Shanghai office.
 
Mr. Mantel has a B.A. in Economics from the University of California-Davis, a Diploma in Investment Analysis and Portfolio from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a M.A. in International Relations from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China Business Center) – master’s thesis topic: China’s Financial System and Capital Markets.  This year Mr. Mantel was appointed as a Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation Board and he is also in the process of establishing a family office to invest in sports ventures globally.
