Jean-Christophe GerardCEO at Barclays Private Bank
Jean-Christophe Gerard was appointed CEO, Private Bank in June 2020, leading the expansion of the business to serve Ultra High Net Worth and Global Family Office clients.
Joining Barclays in 2017 as Global Head of Investments for the Private Bank, Jean¬-Christophe was responsible for building out and delivering our Investments capabilities to Barclays Private Bank clients globally. In 2019, he took up the roles of Head of Private Bank Europe, Monaco and Switzerland and CEO Barclays Monaco, leading and extending our presence in the European Economic Area (EEA) and strengthening Barclays presence in Switzerland and in the Principality.
Jean-Christophe has close to 30 years of experience in Investment Banking (Markets), Asset Management and Private Banking gained at Credit Lyonnais, HSBC and Barclays. He has held positions with both regional and global responsibilities in Paris, Hong Kong, Geneva, London and Monaco. Prior to Barclays he spent time in Investment-related roles within the Private Bank at HSBC, after starting his career in audit at KPMG.
He has also served on several Boards, most notably as founding Trustee and Treasurer of the ‘Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill’ in London and Director of the ‘Institut Supérieur de Formation Bancaire’ in Geneva.
JC graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Bordeaux in 1990. He is a father of two, who have both inherited his love of skiing.
