Phillip is a commercial disputes partner, head of the IT and IP disputes team and co-head of the India group at Penningtons Manches Cooper. He has over 20 years’ experience of complex, high value commercial litigation and arbitration, often with a cross-border element, and regularly advises on commercial, company/shareholder, technology, financial services and civil fraud disputes, as well as enforcement and asset recovery.
Phillip has acted on a number of board and shareholder, banking and IT disputes and represents a range of private sector clients. Often involved in international litigation his work has included cases involving, India, China, USA, Russia, CIS, Dubai, the Channel Islands, BVI, Cayman Islands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Nigeria, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has a particular interest in contentious and transactional work involving India, having acted on several English law disputes involving Indian parties. His recent cases include defending a US$180m claim from a German bank enforcing personal guarantees and a dispute relating to Euro55m of term loan facilities advanced by a Singaporean fund.
He is recommended for both banking and commercial dispute resolution in The Legal 500, where he is described as being reassuring, unflappable, commercially savvy and immensely hard-working (and that he) is a particularly astute tactician…..
