Sushma is a skilled commercial litigator, based in Mumbai, and has more than 13 years of experience in dispute resolution. She focuses on disputes pertaining to infrastructure, construction, and oil and gas sectors.
She started her career with AZB & Partners in Mumbai, where she worked on high-value corporate commercial litigation and arbitration disputes. She also worked at Bharucha & Partners in Mumbai, where she independently serviced clients from strategizing to drafting and briefing external counsel.
To pursue her passion of arguing matters for her clients, she trained as counsel in the Chambers of Mr. Kevic Setalvad, Senior Advocate and Former Additional Solicitor General of India before the Bombay High Court to cultivate the skill set of court craft and advocacy. She worked extensively for 5 years on disputes related to public law and constitutional law.
Sushma has presented papers on arbitration with Mr. Setalvad and Justice B.N. Srikrishna (Former Judge, Supreme Court of India). She also presented a research paper titled “Foreign Law in India: Access and Proof” before the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) at the European Commission-HCCH Joint Conference on “Access to Foreign Law in Civil and Commercial Matters” held in Brussels.
Sushma has been representing corporate clients and Government bodies in commercial litigation and arbitrations as lead counsel as well as junior counsel.
