Suzanne is currently General Counsel LG&RA Services and Group DPO for the NatWest Group.

She trained with global law firm Linklaters where, after completing a number of years in the TMT Department, she moved in-house to advise the firm on its own privacy and information risk management issues. 

With the experience gained in this role Suzanne then undertook a secondment to Barclays as their interim Head of Data Protection. She joined Barclays permanently in December 2006 as their Privacy Director within the Compliance team.  For the last 2 years of her role at Barclays she was also Chair of the British Banker’s Association (now UK Finance) Data Protection Advisory Panel.  In 2009, under Suzanne’s leadership Barclays were awarded a Privacy Innovation award by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. For the last 2 years she also had responsibility for Compliance Operations and Global Sharestakes.

Suzanne left Barclays to join NBCUniversal as their Chief Privacy Officer and then in 2012 joined RBS as the Head of Privacy and in 2017 was promoted to the take on COO responsibility for the Legal function, with responsibility for finance, people, panel, property, comms & events, technology & innovation (including eDisclosure).  In 2019 she was promoted to General Counsel LG&RA Services & Group DPO, providing COO support across the combined Legal, Governance & Regulatory Affairs function, as well as retaining Group DPO responsibilities.

She represented Privacy on the Executive Committee of the Women’s Security Society for 5 years, which aims to encourage the advancement of women working in today’s security world through the exchange of information and creation of collaborative relationships.
