John Astbury is an independent international maritime and aviation consultant and formerly the Chief Executive Officer of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) the UK’s maritime authority responsible for the global security of British shipping, and the enforcement of merchant shipping regulations. He has lectured and presented extensively on maritime matters around the globe and is currently researching his doctorate in emergency management operations at the University; he is also an experienced expert witness in this regard.
