John WhitmanFaculty, The Wharton MBA Health Care Program at & Executive Director, The TRECS Institute
John Whitman has been an active force in the field of Aging and Long-Term Care for over 35 years. For the past 30 years, he has been a faculty member in the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton MBA Healthcare Program serving as the Program’s internal expert on senior care services. John is also a two-time recipient of Wharton’s coveted “Excellence in Teaching Award.” John has been a national consultant during that entire period working with all levels of health care and social service organizations providing care and services for seniors. John is on the Board of the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) the third largest Area Agency for Aging in the nation and recently completed a term on the Dean’s Advisory Board of Drexel University’s School of Public Health. He also serves as an Advisory Board member for multiple startup companies that are focused on caring for seniors.
John also started and serves as the executive director of a nonprofit organization called The TRECS Institute. TRECS stands for Targeting Revolutionary Elder Care Solutions and serves as a catalyst to: 1) create positive changes in caring for our nation’s seniors 2) generating added revenue for providers and 3) save costs for our health care system. The TRECS Institute has received multiple CMS awards and has conducted ground breaking research in difficult areas such as: the availability of dental care services for our nation’s 1.5 million nursing facility residents; improving pharmacy services in nursing facilities; using telemedicine to reduce avoidable SNF to hospital admissions and the use of telemedicine to bring specialty consults into nursing facilities.
