Kate LingSenior European Policy Manager at NHS Confederation
Kate Ling works for the NHS Confederation’s International team, representing Health Service organisations at their European Office in Brussels. She co-ordinates the Brexit Health Alliance, a coalition of NHS, industry, patients, researchers and public health bodies which campaigned to put patient safety and public health issues high on the agenda for negotiations between the UK and the EU and to get the best possible outcomes for the health sector. Now that the deal between the UK and EU has been agreed, the Alliance is continuing to work on implementation and on resolving the numerous outstanding issues. With an eye to the future, Kate is inputting to the UK’s international trade policy and addressing the opportunities and risks for the healthcare sector arising from free trade agreements with countries beyond the EU.
Kate specialises in workforce issues, including employment law, occupational health and safety, mobility and professional regulation; in the impact of trade agreements on the health sector; and cross-border healthcare. She is active in organisations representing healthcare employers across Europe.
