Beth A. McCormick, Ph.D. is Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Founding Director of the UMass Center for Microbiome Research. Dr. McCormick has made seminal contributions toward the understanding of how intestinal microbes colonize the intestine and interact with the host. This work has led to the discovery of novel biological principles of host-microbe interactions and therapeutic intervention strategies for inflammatory-based diseases, including cancer. Dr. McCormick has authored over 100 original peer-reviewed publications, and has received numerous distinctions, including election as a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiologists.
