Marc GuiraudSecretary General at EucoLight
Marc Guiraud is the first Secretary General of EucoLight, the European Association of lighting WEEE compliances schemes. EucoLight members are producer responsibility organisations, specialised in the collection and recycling of end-of-life lighting. Marc has 25 years’ experience in the field of European Policies and Regulatory affairs. He worked for industry trade associations in Brussels with a strong focus on European policies relating to industry and sustainability (LightingEurope and EDANA). As Policy Director with LightingEurope, Marc oversaw the association’s activity in terms of collection & recycling of lighting products, smart lighting, and managed EU-funded projects in the field of energy efficiency. For the last 5 years Marc has been running the Brussels office of EucoLight. He is responsible for the implementation of the strategy of the association, the coordination of its working group’s projects and in his advocacy role he represents the interest of EucoLight externally. More specifically, he works for the benefit of EucoLight members by encouraging a legislative environment that enables the sustainable collection of lighting WEEE. This helps EucoLight members to achieve and exceed performance targets and to operate the best collection and recycling practices for environmental sustainability. He also promotes ambitious and fair requirements for extended producer responsibility organisations, EPR being indeed a key acknowledged tool for a circular economy. Marc has authored, co-authored and presented articles on sustainability, international trade and the approximation of European legislation. As part of his work with EucoLight he has organised and spoken at several events on sustainable WEEE waste collection and other aspects of circularity in his industry. These include meetings with policy makers, speaking at the 17th International Electronics Recycling Congress in 2018 and organising a EucoLight event on the online sale of non-compliant products in 2018.
