The Royal Horseguards Hotel

Overlooking the River Thames on the Embankment, The Royal Horseguards Hotel was designed by Thomas Archer and A. Green in 1884.

The hotel encompasses two iconic buildings: The National Liberal Club which has played host to historical icons including Winston Churchill, Gladstone and Lloyd-George, and the club’s magnificent apartments which was previously the home of the first chief of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service. The venue has previously been featured in several blockbuster films including Skyfall and Harry Potter.

Gladstone Library

The 2022 awards ceremony will take place in the Gladstone Library in the National Liberal Club. Its founder was William Gladstone, four times British Prime Minister, whose name lives on in the Gladstone Library.

Though the 30,000 volumes that line the shelves today are faithful replicas, the room is otherwise just as he would have known it, including the gantry giving access to the upper levels, which now serves as a minstrel’s gallery.

Reading and Writing Room

The awards pre-ceremony and after ceremony drinks will take place in the Reading and Writing Room of the National Liberal Club.

This impressive room is a splendid work of authentic Victorian grandeur, with its high ceilings, murals and twinkling chandeliers. Boasting some of London’s best views with floor to celing windows over the River Thames, London Eye and the adjacent award-winning Whitehall Gardens.
