For more than 22 years, Kirsten Liston has worked with leading Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies to design and implement programs that reduce compliance, ethics, and reputational risk, including the design and delivery of business conduct programs.


She is Principal and Founder of Rethink Compliance, a company on a mission to give compliance officers better, more effective tools to drive behavior and culture change in organizations of all sizes, from global automotive firms to high-growth start-ups and non-profits. Rethink is known for its deep compliance expertise, creative and technological innovation, and commitment to high levels of service.


Kirsten has written more than 50 Codes of Conduct for companies in a range of industries. She has written or directly overseen the creation of hundreds of online courses and communications, including the first 400+ titles in one of the very first compliance training libraries in the industry. She is particularly proud of the creative team at Rethink, which draws highly talented people from fields like advertising, digital marketing, journalism, and corporate communications.


Kirsten started her career as a journalist, writing for Minnesota Law & Politics and Super Lawyers. Her articles have been published in Compliance & Ethics Magazine, Compliance & Ethics Professional, Compliance Week, and Directors and Boards, and she is the author of two books: “Creating Great Compliance Training in a Digital World: How to Reach and Persuade Your Audience” (2019) and “The Compliance Entrepreneur’s Handbook” (2021).


She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and she co-created and co-leads “Creating an Effective Compliance Training Program,” a two-day workshop offered through the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. Recently, she has been a

guest lecturer at the Fordham University School of Law and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and a member of the faculty for the 2022 Practising Law Institute’s “Compliance and Ethics Essentials 2002.”
