A former Référendaire to the British Judge at the European Court of Justice from 2000-2003, Anneli has expert insight of the interaction between EU and domestic law. Prior to taking silk, she was a member of the Attorney General’s Panels for public administrative law and for public international and trade law from 2005-2021. She frequently acts for Government Departments in commercial/regulatory judicial review challenges. She acted for the MHRA in pharmaceutical cases including Teva v MHRA  EWHC 228 and Mylan v MHRA  EWHC 1051 and assisted the MHRA with developing the UK approval scheme and ongoing pharmacovigilance regime for the Covid-19 vaccines.
Her wider practice focuses on competition law, state aid, public procurement, consumer protection and regulatory challenges as well as wider Brexit/TCA cases including Miller v SSEU, Yalland v SSEU and Wightman. She is a member of the Bar Council Working Group on Brexit, the Brexit Law Committee and a regular contributor to the Monckton Brexit Blog.
