At the historical 72nd Marine Environmental Protection Committee meeting, the maritime industry was forced to look past 2020, and think about its long-term decarbonisation strategy in order to align shipping with the Paris Agreement’s goals.
The lead up to MEPC 72 brought forward a more varied line of discourse, however, which put the IMO’s decision making process under fire, and questioned the industry’s commitment to decarbonisation goals in general.
