Profile

Dr. Samaco is an Assistant Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine and Investigator of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital. His research program focuses on optimizing the framework for preclinical readiness of rare and ultra-rare genetic disease. His team leverages the natural history of disease in genetically-defined rodent models to identify measures that may serve as surrogate endpoints. By fostering collaborations across the global landscape of patient advocacy, academic, and industry groups, he strives to advance community-based participatory approaches to overcome process challenges in the development of actionable therapies.
