Daniel’s practice focuses on ESG and human rights risk advisory across corporate, commercial and sustainable finance transactions, regulatory compliance matters and complex human rights and ESG disputes.
Daniel advises clients on identifying and mitigating ESG risks across a range of compliance and transactional matters, including through the development of policies, risk assessments, diligence procedures and investigation protocols as well as constructing contractual mechanisms to mitigate risks arising in business relationships and across supply chains. He has counseled and trained boards and senior executives on human rights risk management and decision making across a range of sectors and in relation to major business decisions.
Daniel supports clients to navigate the increasing ESG regulatory landscape, including in relation to modern slavery, sustainable finance and non-financial reporting, and soft law standard like the OECD Guidelines and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Daniel also supports clients to respond to complex human rights disputes and mitigate potential liability risks associated with ESG issues. This includes advising on parent company liability risks across a wide range of corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, advising on disputes before OECD National Contact Points and UN Mechanisms and designing effective grievance mechanisms.
Daniel’s doctoral research focuses on the effectiveness of civil remedies in cross-border ESG-related disputes.
