Brian W Tang is an innovator, educator and ecosystem builder focused on the confluence of law, technology and finance. After a career at global investment bank Credit Suisse in Hong Kong and Wall Street law firm Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and Silicon Valley, Brian founded ACMI to provide inclusive global thought leadership, industry-wide consensus building and transformational support for innovative technology, educational and policy solutions in the areas of edtech, fintech, regtech and lawtech.
Brian is co-chair of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong’s Regtech Committee, and is also founding executive director of LITE Lab@HKU, Hong Kong University’s new interdisciplinary and experiential programme to foster law, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship (LITE).
Brian is one of the principal instructors for the Introduction to Fintech MOOC on edX with more than 48,000 learners from every country worldwide, sits on IEEE’s Global AI Ethics Initiative Policy Committee and is a chapter author in Reconceptualising Global Finance and its Regulation (Cambridge University Press), The FINTECH Book (Wiley) and The REGTECH Book (Wiley).
Brian also organized Hong Kong’s first lawtech and regtech hackathons, where Hong Kong’s top teams have won in global pitch finals in New York.
