David Wilkinson has been a senior technical specialist at the PRA in the Bank of England, and its forerunner the FSA, for over 10 years. As the climate lead for the Risk Specialists directorate he is leading work to develop the Bank’s view of best practice in the management of climate related risks across the financial services industry. He also represents the Risk Specialists directorate across all Bank of England climate related work. Prior to joining the FSA David had twin careers in investment banking risk management and academic research in the fields of oceanography and climate dynamics.

David holds an MSc (Distinction) and PhD in Oceanography and Climate Dynamics from the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. Both his MSc dissertation and PhD thesis investigated the role of variability in the oceanic meridional overturning circulation on the Earth’s climate system. His PhD was funded by NERC’s Rapid Climate Change programme.
