Periklis ThivaiosPartner at True North Partners LLP
Profile
Periklis’ experience transcends finance, risk, technology and strategy for financial institutions (banks and insurance firms) across Europe, North America and Africa. He is a graduate from the London School of Economics, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and an accredited Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
A frequent contributor to international research projects, conferences and publications, Periklis brings together hands-on financial expertise alongside a sharp take on new technologies such as blockchain, machine learning and other ‘fintech’ related innovations and gimmicks.
Entrepreneurially, he has been the founder of two successful firms in financial services consulting, and of two (less successful) firms in the retail and tourism fields. He is also the CFO of a dynamic fintech startup focusing on renewable energy. Periklis was previously lecturing at the department of Computational and Applied Mathematics at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. Currently, he is researching “financial stability implications of cross-industry (banking and insurance) financial regulation” at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.
Periklis believes that there is little new about fintech innovation and, even though not a Schumpeterian economist, he believes that we have enough tools to understand and analyse the field without the need for grand forecasts and conclusions.
