Monika is a financial risk management professional with over 25 years' experience in banking and financial services consulting roles across several European countries, the US, Middle East, Asia and Australia. Her main areas of focus are risk & capital management, the Basel II/III capital adequacy and liquidity framework for financial institutions and recovery and resolution planning.
She established her own consulting firm dedicated to risk and regulatory consulting to financial institutions in 2014, after spending two years at McKinsey & Company, working as a senior expert in the global risk practice where she focussed on risk management and regulatory topics in the banking industry.
Prior to joining McKinsey in 2012, Monika spent 13 years at PwC as the firm’s primary expert on the Basel framework/EU CRD, advising banks and regulators globally on the implementation of all three pillars of Basel II/III since 2001.
Monika has been acting as an expert advisor to the Group Crisis Manager at Erste Group Bank AG, contributing to the development of recovery and resolution plans at Group level and for individual subsidiaries in CEE countries. Her work also includes drafting of responses to consultation papers from FSB, BCBS and EBA related to recovery and resolution as well as participation in MREL/TLAC data collection exercises by the EBA and SRB. Monika is also a member of the working group on cross-border resolution at the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
