Barney BaldwinRisk and Security Technology MD at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG)
Barney has over 30 years’ experience in software development and technology management. At Stony Brook Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, he developed systems for radiation therapy, in areas including 3D image processing, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, and robotics. He co-authored several papers, presented at conferences, and was the lead developer for a cutting-edge radiation treatment planning platform.
In the financial field, he held successively senior technology roles at SunGard, Swiss Bank, UBS, Credit Suisse, KBC Financial, First New York, and RBC. He developed systems for foreign exchange, derivatives market-making, structured products, equity order routing, low-latency trading, compliance, hedge fund management, market risk, and credit risk. He led technology teams through multiple global projects, mergers, and major regulatory initiatives.
He joined MUFG in 2017 and has managed multiple initiatives in operational, market, technology, and credit risk; and is driving transformation in risk management technology.
Barney has a B.A. in Humanities from McGill University, a Master's in Computer Science from SUNY Stony Brook, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from NYU.
