George MalangaChief Credit Officer, Credit / Restructuring at BNY Mellon
George Malanga is the Chief Credit Officer of BNY Mellon. He is a member of Risk Policy senior management reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer and responsible for overseeing the management of credit risk across the company.
George started his career as a credit trainee at the Irving Trust Company in 1987, a firm that was later acquired by The Bank of New York in 1989. He served in various relationship management capacities in the Marine Transportation Division, servicing shipping clients globally, and in 1998 became the Division Head of this specialized lending group. He joined Risk Policy in 2000 when he was named head of Asset Recovery. In 2004, he was named Senior Credit Officer with credit oversight for domestic corporate and special industries lending, and in 2006 assumed the role of Chief Credit Officer, a position he now holds for BNY Mellon.
George holds a BA in Business Administration from Rutgers College and an MBA in finance from New York University.
