Captain Alexandra Hagerty, is a distinguished figure in the maritime industry, having served as the Master of the Hospital Ship Africa Mercy and worked aboard various government and commercial vessels for 13 years. Her contributions extend beyond her commanding roles, as she is also an accomplished writer and panelist, actively engaging in discussions on international maritime affairs. As a Fellow of the Nautical Institute UK and the Founder of the charity 'Captains Without Borders,' Captain Hagerty is deeply committed to providing scholarships to maritime cadets from underprivileged backgrounds. She serves as an expert witness, international speaker, and was Vice President of International Relations at the Council of American Master Mariners (CAMM), playing a crucial role in fostering international maritime cooperation.

Representing the United States merchant marine at significant forums, such as the International Maritime Organization's International Federation of Shipmaster's Associations (IFSMA), Nor-Shipping 2023 and as a guest speaker for the Foreign Commerce Club of New York, Captain Hagerty advocates for sustainable shipping policies and the welfare of seafarers globally. Currently pursuing an Executive MBA at MIT with a focus on sustainability, Captain Hagerty is also a recipient of the Forte Foundation Leadership Scholarship, highlighting her dedication to leadership and academic excellence. She serves as an Ambassador for Seatrade Maritime Club, is a member of the Boston Marine Society, and has earned recognition as one of the "Top 20 Women in 2021" by Marine Log Magazine and "Top 40 under 40" by Antwerp XL 2023. Her career is accentuated by her inclusion in the book "Commodity Conversations" by Jonathan Kingsman.
