Born and grew up in the Outer Hebrides (Isle of Barra). Studied at The University of Aberdeen. In Scottish Government (Marine Scotland) has worked in both Operational and Policy roles covering aquaculture, marine licensing and consents. Worked at the Marine Laboratory in Aberdeen for 23-years. Chair of Scotland’s Environment Group if activated under the National Contingency Plan. Manages Marine Scotland’s Duty Officer’s rota for emergency response. Has led on the provision of environmental and public health advice on several significant incidents and Chaired the Environment Group at the UK National Exercise in 2018. Previously worked in the Private Sector as a fish farm manager working in Skye, the Outer Hebrides and Greece.
